Air Astana is the national airline of Kazakhstan, jointly owned by the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" of the republic of Kazakhstan and BAE systems.
The airline is a full member of the IATA (International Association of Air Transport) and is the only airline in Kazakhstan which is EASA (European Aviation
Safety Agency) JAR-145 certified to perform aircraft maintenance and maintain its fleet to audited EU EASA 145 standards. Air Astana is listed on the register of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), one of a small number of airlines in the Commonwealth of Independent States to have achieved this and has attained a 3* star overall rating and a 4* short haul business class rating in the World Airline Star rating Programme conducted by Skytrax Research.
The fleet consists of B 767-300ER , B757-200 , F50 and Airbus A319/A320/A321 series. Air Astana has direct services from UK and Europe to Kazakhstan with easy onward connections to all major cities within Kazakhstan. The twice weekly Heathrow to Almaty non stop direct service is operated using B757-200s with 20 and 150 seats in business and economy class respectively.
Today the airline operates a fleet of 21 western aircraft with an average age of 5 years on over more than 50 domestic and international routes.
As part of the continual expansion plan, Air Astana will increase frequency on both domestic and international routes, in addition to the introduction of new menus, enhanced in-flight entertainment and membership to Nomad Club, Air Astanas frequent flyer loyalty programme.
The airline is now recognized as a clear leader in the CIS region, as it continues to complement its modern fleet with a large number of technical and service innovations designed to ensure that air travel to, from and within Kazakhstan is as reliable and convenient as possible.
