This privacy policy will explain how the British-Kazakh Society Ltd (BKS) collects and uses your personal data through the use of our website www.bksoc.org.uk The BKS takes the proper collection, storage, and use of your personal data very seriously and we will always process our users’ data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

‘We’ ‘us’ or the ‘BKS refers to the British-Kazakh Society, a non-profit membership organisation limited by guarantee with the registered address Trinity House, 3 Bullace Lane, Dartford, Kent, DA1 1BB.

  • Apply for membership with us.

  • Sign up to our newsletter and other mailing services.

  • Register to attend our events.

  • Use the contact details of staff listed on the website to contact us.

   1. Application for Membership:

You can apply for membership by completing the relevant request form on our website. The provision of your personal data is necessary in order for us to effectively respond to your membership request and generally, we will not transmit data to a third party. When applying for membership we require the following details:

  • Company Name

  • Position in the Company

  • Contact Email Address

  • Contact Telephone Number

  • Contact Address

   2. Registering for Events:

As with membership requests, supplying us with your personal data is essential when registering for one of our events. We use wix.com when taking registrations for events. By registering for any BKS event, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data by Wix.com and its agents. Wix’s terms of service can be viewed here. Generally, the information we require when registering for an event is as follows:

  • Full Name

  • Email Address

  • Phone Number

  • Company and position if possible

   3. Signing Up to our mailing list:

In order to sign up to receive our e-marketing campaigns, which include event reminders, newsletters, and mailshots from BKS member firms and partners, the provision and storage of your personal data are necessary. The BKS uses Wix.com to send mailings, whose terms of service can be viewed here.

The data we require when signing up to our mailing list are as follows:

  • Company Name

  • Position in the Company

  • Email Address

  • Contact Address

   4. Data Deletion and Storage:

We will retain your personal data for as long is necessary for the provision of the services available on our website, as well as for the satisfaction of any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

When determining how long to retain your personal data we will consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the data. If we determine we no longer require your data for the provision of the services outlined above, we will securely delete it in line with the applicable laws and regulations.

   5. Access to Data

Only the Board of Directors and the Membership Secretary of the BKS are allowed access to full information on the BKS network list, including members' details, and this information is only allowed to be used in the proper conduct of their duties.

Third parties related to the BKS could receive the names of organisations that are on the network list but not details of individuals, their affiliations, and their contact details.

   6. How to Raise an Enquiry or Withdraw Consent to be Contacted:

We will aim to respond to all queries relating to the processing of your personal data within 7 days. In cases where the inquiry is particularly complex, we will inform you of how long we will need to respond.
