The British-Kazakh Society Celebrating the New Year plus 20 Years of the BKS 9th February 2022, 19:00 - 22:30 The British Kazakh Society would like to extend a very warm welcome to you, your company and guests at our prestigious New Year Dinner in the House of Lords on Wednesday February 9th 2022, starting at 7pm. Please save the date in your diary today. We are grateful to Lord Astor of Hever for being the formal host for the evening. We will also have several honoured VIP’s as Guests, including HE Kathy Leach Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, HE Erlan Idrisov the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UK, plus Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, Her Majesty’s Trade Envoy. We will also have additional VIP’s, including Parliamentarians from both Houses and high-profile business leaders. This great event will provide a unique opportunity to engage with business, government and NGO executives, with expert focus, wide knowledge and vast experience of Kazakhstan. Tickets for this elite event are bookable in tables of 10, or individually. Members of BKS are entitled to invite a guest, according to their membership status. As numbers are restricted, and we expect the evening to sell out quickly, we would be grateful if you would respond by December 31st 2021, by either making your application and payment on-line, or by transferring the funds to our BKS account. Ticket prices are £150 plus VAT per person, or £2,000 plus VAT for a complete table (of 10 places). Covid19 Rules for Foreign Travellers Arriving to Kazakhstan: - Travellers need to show a coronavirus free PCR certificate issued within three days prior to arrival in Kazakhstan.
- From 3 December 2021 travellers from countries (including the UK) where the new Omicron variant was detected or those who visited these countries in the last 14 days must self-isolate upon arrival in Kazakhstan for seven days.
- Travellers entering Kazakhstan who test positive for coronavirus currently need to self-isolate for 14 days.
- PCR test certificate must be in English, Russian or Kazakh languages.

News About Kazakhstan / UK: Kazakhstan: On 8 December, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Prime Minister Askar Mamin. The Prime Minister reported preliminary results of the national census, which took place between 1 September and 30 October 2021. The country's population reached 19,169,550 people including 48.71% men and 51.29% women. The average age is 32 years. 70.18% of the population are ethnic Kazakhs (click here). On 9 December, Chairman of the National Bank Yerbolat Dosayev announced plans to implement a digital currency 'Digital Tenge' (click here). On 10 December, Prime Minister Askar Mamin visited Kostanay region to participate in the opening ceremony of the 'Auto Recycling' facility, the first of its kind in Central Asia. The new facility will recycle 4,000 end-of-life agricultural vehicles per year (click here). According to official statistics, as of 13 December, 979,975 people have been infected with Covid-19 in Kazakhstan, 948,757 people recovered and 12,864 died. United Kingdom: Oil and gas: OPRED communications (click here). Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that England is moving to Plan B following the spread of of Omicron variant across the UK (click here). According to the latest Bank of England report, the Omicron variant can still have a great impact on the economy of the UK (click here). According to the official statistics, as of 13 December, 10,873,468 people have been infected with COVID19 in the UK, 9,528,314 people recovered and 146,477 died. |
